NURTURING EVERY STUDENT
Wellbeing
At St Patrick’s School, the Bright Sparks Dispositions are introduced to support students in becoming self-motivated, resilient, and responsible individuals who are empowered to take ownership of their learning and emotional growth. Aligned with the Victorian Curriculum: Social and Emotional Wellbeing, the program fosters self-awareness, perseverance, problem-solving, and responsible decision-making. Students learn to manage their emotions, build positive relationships, and contribute to a supportive school community through restorative practices and collaborative activities. The program emphasizes the development of critical thinking, empathy, and resilience, equipping students with the social and emotional skills necessary to navigate challenges and become confident, compassionate, and capable individuals. Through regular reflection and mindfulness practices, students are encouraged to cultivate a strong sense of wellbeing, personal agency, and social responsibility, enabling them to thrive both academically and personally.

Restorative Practices are at the heart of our approach to conflict resolution and relationship-building at St Patrick’s. When conflicts arise, students are encouraged to engage in restorative conversations, where they reflect on their actions, understand the impact on others, and work collaboratively to repair any harm caused. This approach fosters empathy, accountability, and effective communication, helping students build positive, respectful relationships. By focusing on the restoration of relationships rather than punitive measures, restorative practices encourage students to develop the skills necessary for resolving conflicts in a constructive and empathetic way, promoting a harmonious school environment.
Buddy Program
At St Patrick’s School, our Buddy Program fosters a strong sense of connection, belonging, and community across all year levels. Older students are paired with younger peers to build supportive relationships that promote leadership, empathy, and social development. This cross-age partnership provides younger students with a trusted friend and role model, while giving older students the opportunity to develop responsibility, care, and leadership skills.

The Buddy Program is woven into the fabric of school life through regular shared activities, such as reading, games, art, and school events. These interactions help students feel safe, seen, and supported, contributing to a positive school culture where everyone feels they belong. By nurturing respect and understanding across age groups, the Buddy Program plays a key role in strengthening our inclusive and caring school environment.
